A whisper travels on the breeze, a tale spun from caramel lies and bitter truths. It speaks of a current, its waters glinting with the promise of intoxication. But within its depths lurks a venom, a deceptive lure that promises wealth at the cost of morals. They say those who drown in its current are forever consumed by the stream's grip, their lives forever twisted into a desolate melody.
The Great Molasses Flood
On January 15th, 1919, Boston was struck by a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that raged through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, soaring to 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Homes and businesses crumbled under the power of the treacherous goo.
The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more suffered injuries. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of sticky residue in its wake.
